Next gen Ssangyong Rexton will launch next year.
Ssangyong has unveiled the second version of the LIV concept - the Ssangyong LIV-2 concept - at the 2016 Paris Motor Show today. It previews the next gen Ssangyong Rexton (codenamed Ssangyong Y400) that is confirmed to commercially launch worldwide in 2017.
The LIV-2 concept replaces some of the futuristic touches of the LIV-1 concept for production-spec elements. It features a sloping roof line, squared character line above the front and rear wheel arches, small LED headlamps directly flanking a wide grille, and horizontal wraparound LED taillamps. The LIV-2 measures 4,850 mm long, 1,960 mm wide, 1,800 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,865 mm.
The interior too looks ready for production. It is claimed to be massive step up with respect to build quality and is designed around the 'chauffeur driven concept'. The cabin has fine leather upholstery with piano black trim and chrome detailing for premium look. At the center of the dashboard sits a 9.2 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity.
Ssangyong has also revealed the engine lineup of LIV-2, which is likely to make it to the assembly line - it includes both petrol and diesel engines; the former is a new 2.0L GDi turbocharged engine available with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic, while the latter is the familiar 2.2L turbodiesel unit available with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic.
