SsangYong Tivoli to be called 'Tivolan' in China - Report

Likely to go on sale in June this year.

SsangYong’s new compact crossover Tivoli has been rechristened ‘Tivolan’ for China. It will be previewed at the Auto Shanghai 2015 trade fair that opens on the 20th of April. The new car, which is a runaway hit in Korea, is expected to hit Chinese showrooms in June, while pre-bookings could commence at the show.

As SsangYong’s first compact SUV, the Tivolan measures 4,195 mm in length, 1,795 mm in width, 1,590 mm in height and 2,600 mm in wheelbase. The Chinese-spec model is no different in technical and mechanical terms from the Tivoli in sold in Korea, and in the UK since last week.

The Tivolan comes with Xenon headlamps with LED DRLs, optional 18-inch diamond cut alloys, eight body colours, and three interior colour tones - black, beige, and red. Features such as multifunction steering wheel, reverse camera, ventilated or heated seats, ABS, dual-airbags, and ESP also finds place in the list. It offers three driving modes for drivers to choose - standard, comfort and sport mode.

SsangYong offers the 1.6-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine in the Tivolan that makes 128 PS and 160 Nm of max torque. The engine is matched to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.

The SsangYong Tivoli will compete with other notable compact SUVs in the Chinese market such as Mazda CX-3, Renault Captur, and Peugeot 2008.
