Spied - Ssangyong X100 mini SUV reveals interiors partially in China
A test mule of the upcoming Ssangyong X100 (codename) has been spotted testing in China once again. The compact SUV was previewed by the XLV Concept that made its global premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March and was also showcased at the Beijing Motor Show.
The prototype reveals the interior partially. Most of the dashboard is hidden but parts like the steering wheel, gearbox, seat fabrics and center tunnel are visible.
The Ssangyong X100 will be made in 5- and 7-seater versions, primarily targeting markets like Korea, Europe and China. The crossover is based on a brand new platform.
The powertrain lineup is expected to include a set of 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines that are reportedly being jointly developed with Mahindra.
Ssangyong had announced that the 5-seater version would be launched in early 2015 while the longer 7-seater would follow in late 2015. Market positioning would be lower than the Korando C with crossovers like the Peugeot 2008, Nissan Juke, Opel Mokka as perceived rivals.
The South Korean automaker had recently announced that it will launch the X100 in Sri Lanka next year. The prospects of the 5-seater version are bleak in India however, the 7-seater could be an ideal product for the Indian market.
