Tata's Maruti Baleno/Hyundai i20 rival arriving festive season 2019 - Report
The 2019 festive season will witness the launch the production version of the Tata 45X Concept, reports ET Auto. Showcased for the first time at the Auto Expo in February, the concept previews a Maruti Baleno/Hyundai i20 rival.
The 45X will become the first product based on the Alfa architecture or AMP (Advanced Modular Platform). Its exterior will follows the Impact Design 2.0 language that debuted at the Auto Expo with the 45X and H5X. There is currently insufficient information about the upcoming hatchback. Early prototypes have been spotted on public roads on multiple occasions wearing incomplete bodies and interior.
While the concept is 4,253 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, and 1,451 mm tall, the production version of the Tata 45X (codename: Tata X451) will be smaller. It could borrow the Tata Nexon's 1.2 L Revotron and 1.5 L Revotorq petrol and diesel engines along with the 6-speed manual and AMT gearboxes. A sub-4m length along with these engines will ensure the hatchback's qualification as a small car.
A Maruti Ciaz/Honda City/Hyundai Verna rivalling sedan derivative of the 45X hatchback is also on its way, as per reports. However, it is likely to go on sale only towards 2020.

According to the report, the Tata X451 is one of as many as 12 new models the company plans to base off the Alfa and Omega platforms. The Ranjangaon and Sanand factories are being prepared to handle the manufacturing of these upcoming Tata cars. The company intends to invest USD 1 billion towards the development and production of new models. Arriving first will be the Tata Harrier (production version of Tata H5X concept) based on the Omega platform. The company has confirmed that it will go on sale in India in the first quarter of 2019.
