Tata Bolt vs Fiat Punto Evo vs Nissan Micra vs Toyota Liva - Comparo

Round 2 of the Tata Bolt's competitors involve the Fiat Punto Evo, Nissan Micra, Toyota Etios Liva and the Chevrolet Sail hatchback.

Dimension wise, the Bolt is the widest and tallest, but falls short on length compared to the Punto Evo. The Fiat, thanks to its near 4 meter length, has the longest wheelbase as well at 2,510 mm. The Bolt has the smallest boot in this list at only 210 liters, while the longer Punto Evo features a generous 280 liter capacity.

Diesel comparison:

The Bolt, Punto Evo and the Sail feature the same 1.3-liter MultiJet engine, the Liva gets a 1.4-liter unit and the Micra a 1.5-liter unit. The Fiat-powered cars produce about 75 PS, though the Punto Evo is also offered in a higher 93 PS tune.

The Punto Evo makes the highest power and torque, followed by the Bolt, Sail, Liva and Micra. All cars are paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. Aside from the Punto Evo Sport, all cars have a power-weight ratio in the region of 65-67 PS/tonne. The Liva and Micra stand out as the most fuel efficient cars here.

Petrol comparison:

Again, all cars use a 1.2-liter engine, but the Punto Evo can be had with a more powerful 1.4-liter motor as well. The Bolt makes the most power and torque thanks to its turbocharging, but in the power-weight ratio race, the Liva comes out on top thanks to its lighter weight.

A 5-speed manual transmission is standard on all cars, but Nissan offers the Micra with a CVT as well. The CVT-equipped Micra returns the best efficiency here at 19.34 km/l, while the Punto Evo 1.4 has the least at 14.4 km/l.

Tata will announce prices of the Bolt next month, and this comparison will be updated with the prices and ARAI fuel efficiency figures.
