Tata Megapixel concept sets the Geneva motorshow floor ablaze [Video + Image Gallery]

Tata Motors presented the Megapixel, a four seater global range extended electric car concept at the 82nd Geneva Motor Show. The powertrain is constituted by a lithium ion phosphate battery and a petrol engine to recharge it on the move.

The Tata Megapixel has a range of up to 900 km (with a single tank of fuel), CO2 emissions of just 22 gm / km and a fuel economy of 100 km/litre (when the vehicle runs on battery power)

The Megapixel concept, showcasing the future design language of Tata Motors was conceived at design centres in India, the UK and Italy. It is the progression of the Tata Pixel concept showcased at last year's Geneva Motor Show.

Certain features like the ‘Zero Turn’ drive system where the car crabs into a parking space has been reused on the MegaPixel. This provides an exceptional turning radius of just 2.8 metres!

The MegaPixel nixes the gullwing doors for a double-sliding door system. It has a B-pillar less design to ensure obtrusion-free entry and exit besides enhancing visibility. The battery layout and hub motors have been integrated to intrude less into the cabin, thereby allowing the car to accommodate four adults with luggage. The front seats are cantilevered on the central tunnel, allowing floor space to be utilized for storing everyday objects.

The ventilation, driving modes, temperature and performance of the car can be controlled using a smart phone that docks with the center console.
