Tata Nano 'Pelican' shows its all-new headlights in spyshot
Expected to launch in H2 2017.
The spyshot below shows the Tata Pelican, what is reported to be the codename for the next iteration of the Tata Nano, on test in Maharashtra. While the overall shape of the Pelican is similar to the present-day Nano GenX, its clear to see that designers have introduced new headlight clusters, and redesigned bumpers, just two of several enhancements that will be made.
Other upgrades on the outside will include larger 13-inch wheels, redesigned hood, a repositioned fuel filler inlet and washer for the front windshield. However, the highlight of the Tata Pelican is expected on the inside, which borrows plenty of parts and components from the more expensive Tata Tiago.
The dashboard gets a thorough redesign and now features the instrument cluster in front of the driver, rather than on the middle of the dash. The center console of the dashboard gets new AC vents and a 2-DIN Harman-sourced music system with Bluetooth support. The seats and fabrics are also expected to get an overhaul.

Coming to the powertrain, the Tata Pelican could sport a larger engine, rumored to be a three-cylinder unit, with power output in the region of 55-60 hp. It will continue offering manual and automated manual transmissions, not to mention features like power steering and an openable hatch-door. Expect the Tata Pelican to launch towards the later part of 2017.
