Tata Tigor EV vs Tata Tigor EV Extended Range: Specifications compared

The Tata Tigor EV was criticised for its poor range when it was initially launched just for government officials. In a little over a year, this issue has been addressed by replacing it with the Tata Tigor EV Extended Range. Unlike the old model, the new model is available to even private customers. Here's how the specifications of these models differ.

Like the Tata Tigor EV, the Tigor EV Extended Range measures 3,992 mm in length, 1,677 mm in width and 1,537mm height and has a 2,450mm wheelbase. The ground clearance of the new model is 6 mm higher - 176 mm.

The biggest talking point of the new Tata Tigor EV Extended Range has to be its battery pack. While the old model uses a 16.2 kWh battery pack, the new model has a 21.5 kWh battery pack. The result - an MIDC rated driving range of 213 km instead of 142 km. The electric motor is the same 72 V 3-phase AC induction unit from the Tata Tigor EV, good for 30 kW (40.79 PS) and 105 Nm. The top speed is the same - 80 km/h.

However, there are a couple of downsides too, and they are quite notables ones. Firstly, the new battery pack has reduced the boot space (from 310 litres to 255 litres) and increased the overall kerb weight (from 1,516 kg to 1,590 kg).

The old model's normal charging time from 0-80% is 6 hours. For the new model, Tata Motors has given normal charging time from 0-100%, and it's 11.5 hours. As for the 0-80% fast charging time comparison, it's 1.5 hours for the old model and 2 hours for the new model.

The Tata Tigor EV Extended Range comes with a standard warranty of 3 years/1,25,000 km. Below are its prices after government subsidies:
