IAB Report - Tata Zest, Bolt to have European premiere at Geneva Motor Show next week
Tata Motors will stage the European debut of the Tata Bolt hatchback and Tata Zest compact sedan at the Geneva Motor Show which commences on March 4. The Zest and the Bolt were revealed earlier this month in India, ahead of a launch planned later this year.
Tata does not merely intend to have the Bolt and the Zest as show floor exhibits in Geneva. The two cars are expected to go on sale in places such as Spain, Italy and Turkey, where Tata has existing dealerships for passenger cars.
Both, the Zest and Bolt are based on the Vista's X1 platform. While the Bolt is a thoroughly redesigned Vista, the Zest is a compact, sub-4 meter sedan based on the Bolt. The petrol variants of both cars will be powered by Tata's new turbocharged, 1.2-liter Revotron engine which outputs 85 PS and 140 Nm of torque.
The diesel engines are borrowed from Fiat. Both cars use the 1.3-liter Multijet engine, though the Bolt outputs 75 PS and 190 Nm of torque, while the Zest makes 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual and automated manual transmission will be seen on the diesel versions of these cars. The petrol variants will be matched to a 5-speed manual transmission.
