Tata Zica - Auto Expo 2016

Tata Zica (short for Zippy Car) has been showcased at Auto Expo 2016. The compact hatchback will take on a new branding in the coming weeks before going for sale, as Tata Motors has announced that it wishes to disconnect it from the deadly Zika virus outbreak overseas.

The exterior of the Zica follows the 'IMPACT' design theme, the creation of Tata Motors' current design head, Pratap Bose. The face gets a wide radiator grille flanked by sweptback halogen headlamps, while the bumper carries a wide air dam with chrome-bezel fog lamps on either side. The flanks are endowed with sharp character lines, dual-tone side mirrors with LED turn indicators and 14-inch twin five-spoke alloys. The rear bring with it wraparound tail lights and well-sculpted tailgate with a prominent roof spoiler.

The Zica measures 3,746 mm, 1,647 mm and 1,535 mm in length, width and height respectively, and its wheelbase is 2,400 mm long.

The interior has a premium feel with high-quality materials and a dual-tone layout. The cabin comes with full-fabric seats bearing a geometric pattern, body-colored AC vents, three-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a piano-black finish for the dashboard. ConnectNext infotainment system by Harman is offered with 8 speakers and aux, USB, and Bluetooth connectivity. The safety aspect is taken care of by features such as dual front airbags, ABS & EBD with Corner Stability Control (CSC).

The Tata Zica is powered by two engines; a 1.05-liter Revotorq three-cylinder diesel engine producing 70 PS and 140 Nm, and a 1.2-liter Revotron three-cylinder unit generating 85 PS and 114 Nm of peak torque. Both engines support Tata’s Multi Drive technology and are paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. An AMT option has been confirmed, but will not come at the launch.
