Toyota Levin HEV - Motorshow Focus
Is powered by a four-cylinder combustion engine assisted by a single electric motor.
Toyota had showcased the Levin HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show. The vehicle is the hybrid version of the American-spec Toyota Corolla, exclusive to China.
The Levin has a striking face that is characterized by the thick silver-finish strip covering the entire width of the car all the way to the headlights. At the center of this strip lies the three overlapping ellipses, which are illuminated with a blue backlight denoting the hybrid nature of the vehicle. Other noteworthy features are the wide radiator grille and a a low front lip. The rear, in similarity with the front fascia has a thick silver-finish strip connecting the two sleek tail light assemblies and an illuminated logo.
The interior is all black with a very basic layout that is made a little interesting by blue accents seen on the infotainment screen, start-stop button and gear knob. The cabin also has a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel that is wrapped in leather, identical to the seat upholstery.
Mechanically, the Levin HEV is powered by a 1.8-liter four cylinder engine that produces 99 hp and 142 Nm of peak torque, assisted by an electric motor that generates 72 hp and 207 Nm. Power is sent to the wheels through an 'e-CVT' automatic gearbox. The car is produced in China by the Guangzhou-Toyota joint venture.
