Toyota Vios for India will get CVT option - Report
Autocar India reports that the Toyota Vios scheduled to arrive in India in 2018 will come equipped with a CVT. TKM is a targeting a Diwali 2018 launch for the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, and Hyundai Verna rival.
As reported earlier, TKM will launch the Vios in India with a 1.5 L Petrol engine only. The power output will be around 108 hp, while peak torque will be an estimated 140 Nm. According to the latest report, this engine will be mated to a manual transmission or a CVT. The latter will feature a 7-step manual mode.
Toyota is yet to finalize plans for a diesel variant. It may get the Corolla Altis' 88 PS and 205 Nm 1.4 L D-4D diesel engine at a later stage. The Etios' 68 PS 1.4 L diesel would be a bit underpowered for the Toyota Vios.

The Toyota Vios could regionally debut at the 2018 Auto Expo in February next year. Although already on sale in multiple South East Asian markets, the India-spec Vios is likely to vary. Some reports even indicate that the model for India will be based on the same architecture as the Toyota Etios. This move may help TKM target an aggressive price tag undercutting the Honda City by a substantial margin.
