Upcoming Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 spied again
As Husqvarna continues testing the Svartpilen 401 in India, a test mule has been spied yet again. KTM is yet to announce the launch timeline for this model and the Vitpilen 401 in our market.

It is said that the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 seen here is in the production-ready form. Select KTM dealerships have already commenced the pre-bookings for the Swedish motorcycles. KTM will upgrade its outlets to accommodate the new models.
The test mule was equipped with alloy wheels instead of wire-spoke wheels that are seen on the international-spec models. The source report suggests that the Indian-spec model will get alloy rims from the KTM 390 Duke. However, we still expect to see wire-spoke units on the production-spec models. The knobby design matches its scrambler persona, and we will most likely see the same tread pattern on the final product.
The test mule also shows the saree-guard on the motorcycle, which looks identical to the units on the KTM bikes. The tyre hugger-mounted number plate gives the motorcycle a cleaner look from the back. Do note that the rear blinkers have been repositioned and that they do not occupy the space on the tyre hugger. A single-piece pillion grab rail also joins the package.
In terms of mechanical specifications, the Husqvarna 401 duo will share their 373.2cc single-cylinder engine with the KTM 390 Duke. The performance numbers from the BS-VI motor are not likely to be very different from the current engine’s 43.5 hp of peak power and 35 Nm of max torque. The single-cylinder mill will be linked to a six-speed gearbox that, like the 390 Duke, will benefit from an assist and a slipper clutch.

The Husquvarna duo is likely to be more expensive than the KTM 390 Duke, and we expect the motorcycles to cost between INR 2.80-3.20 lakh (ex-showroom). Their launch should take place by early next year.
