Volvo reveals Concept XC Coupe; Design previews 2015 XC90
Volvo has released these images of their new Concept XC Coupe, which will debut at the Detroit Motor Show on January 13th, 2014.
The XC coupe is the second concept previewing their new Scandinavian design philosophy, designed by Thomas Ingenlath, Volvo's senior vice-president of design. The first of the three concept cars was the Concept Coupe which was shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year.

All three of these concepts will show the depth and capability of the brand's SPA (Scalable Platform Architecture), which is set to underpin future Volvos as small as the S60 and as big as the XC90. The first production Volvo to feature this platform and design philosophy would be the next generation XC90, set for a late 2014 debut.
As far as the powertrain is concerned, Volvo announced that by the end of this decade, all their cars would use engines having not more than four cylinders (the six- and eight cylinder engines would be retired). A recent report also suggested that the new XC90 could get a Plug-in hybrid variant dubbed 'Twin Engine'. This plug-in hybrid would combine a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an electric motor to produce 300 hp and 600 Nm of torque.
Volvo will release more details about this concept on January 8th.
