As per a report from CarandBike, Volkswagen Motorsport is about to commence sales of its two of its race cars to private buyers. The customers will be able to choose from the Ameo Cup model and the full-blown race-spec Vento that competes in the Indian Touring Car Championship. Powering the race-tuned VW Ameo Cup car is a 1.8-litre petrol engine that outputs 250 bhp and comes mated to a sequential transmission with an auto-shifter

Powering the Volkswagen Ameo Cup race car is a performance-tuned 1.8-litre petrol engine that outputs a maximum power of 205 bhp. It comes paired with a sequential gearbox with a full auto mode. The features list comprises bits like a BMC performance air-intake, Motec engine management system, fully digital instrument console, FMSCI-spec full roll cage, seam welded body structure, fire extinguisher, Team Dynamic wheels shod with MRF ZLO racing slicks, OMP racing seat and a rear spoiler. The purpose-built track tool is capable of registering a minimum lap time of 2 minutes 20 seconds on the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.

Even the Vento Cup race draws its power from the high-strung 1.8-litre petrol engine. While it can develop a maximum power of 250 bhp, like it does on the Ameo Cup cars, its peak output has been restricted to 210 bhp. That said, the total power output can be boosted to 300 bhp. Transmission options for the race-tuned Vento include a 6-speed manual or a sequential gearbox with a manual shifter. The sedan rides on KW suspension with Eibach coilovers. Its forged wheels weigh just 6.5 kg a piece.

Braking is courtesy of Golf R32-sourced front disc brakes and Octavia RS-sourced rear disc rotors. Other features include a racing seat with harness, fire extinguisher and a full roll cage. VW is offering optional aerodynamics bits like a front diffuser, canards and a rear wing.

The Vento Cup cars feature a full roll cage, racing seats and harness and fire extinguishers.
