VW Beetle to launch in India around mid-December - Report
To be imported as CBU.
The VW Beetle is reported to be just days away from launch by Carwale. The publication suggests that the niche car would be launched around the 20th of December. It will compete with the Mini Cooper S and the Fiat Abarth 595 Competizione.
Introduced in 2011, the current generation Beetle is already due for a mid-life facelift next year. The company is quoted by the report as saying that the facelift version would have nothing more than a minor update and that it would not be applied to the Indian model until the next major upgrade is done to the Beetle in a few years.
The current model is powered by the 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine tuned to produce 147 bhp and mated to a 7-speed DSG unit that can be controlled by paddles on the steering wheel. The car will be loaded with features like bi-xenon headlamps, foglamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, a rear spoiler, a dual zone automatic climate control system, a touchscreen display for infotainment system, a panoramic glass roof, leather upholstery and heated front seats.
