New VW Beetle snapped in India ahead of launch - Spied
Bookings are accepted for a deposit of INR 1 Lakh.
Ahead of its launch in the coming weeks, the new VW Beetle has been spotted testing, courtesy of Powerdrift. It has been teased by VW India, and bookings are open for a deposit of INR 1 Lakh, which collectively suggest that its launch is nearing.
Although the pictures in their dedicated website reveal the Beetle with the top-spec 16 inch alloy wheels, the model spotted here features smaller rims, which could be attributed to the Indian road conditions and better ride quality. Otherwise, it will get bi-xenon headlamps, 16 inch alloy wheels, power retractable ORVMs, rear spoiler, and foglamps.
Inside, the Beetle is expected to be equipped generously with features such as a dual zone automatic climate control, touchscreen display, panoramic glass roof, auto dimming rear view mirror, leather upholstery, and heated front seats.

The only engine option available to Indian customers is a 1.4-liter TSI four cylinder petrol engine that is capable of 110 kW (147 hp). It is paired to a 7-speed DSG gearbox with paddles on the steering wheel as standard.
The new Beetle will be brought into the country via the CBU route, following the steps of the previous model. Given its niche status and feature list, it is expected to be priced between INR 30-35 Lakhs (Ex showroom, Delhi).
