Geneva Live - 2014 VW Scirocco (facelift)
The 2014 VW Scirocco facelift had its public debut yesterday at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The Scirocco sits above the Golf in VW's international portfolio.
The refreshed Scirocco gets LED daytime running lights (on variants sold with Bi-Xenon lights) and a revised front bumper which features aerodynamic ‘blades’ in the outer section.
At the rear, VW designers have lent the car LED taillights, while the bumper is placed lower to enhance the stance of the Scirocco.
The ‘VW’ logo on the tailgate now functions as a release for the bootlid, a feature seen the VW Polo as well. Inside, the dashboard gets new-look dials and a secondary instrument cluster above the centre console, consisting of a chronometer, charge pressure and oil temperature gauges.
All engines of the revised Scirocco now adhere to EU6 standards. The petrol range starts from a 1.4-litre 125 PS (earlier was 122 PS), and includes a new 2.0-litre 180 PS (which replaces the previous 1.4-litre 160 PS unit). An older 2.0-litre TSI 210 PS is replaced with a 220 PS unit which promises 19 percent better fuel efficiency.
Two diesel engines are available, both 2.0-litre units, with either 150 PS or 184 PS output.
All engines come with a choice of a six-speed manual, or a six- or seven-speed DSG gearbox.
The refreshed Scirocco commences bookings in the UK on May 20. Deliveries begin in September.
