Yamaha Saluto with new engine launched at INR 52,000 - IAB Report [Images Updated]

Yamaha today launched the Saluto commuter motorcycle at a price of INR 52,000, ex-Showroom, New Delhi. The Saluto is positioned in the commuter motorcycle segment (100-125 cc) which according to the company accounts for 9 million units per annum.
Power for the Saluto comes from a newly-developed air-cooled, single-cylinder 125 cc engine, which has been developed under the brand's Blue Core ideal. It features a more compact combustion chamber than Yamaha's previous engines in this segment. This gives the Saluto the title of the lightest motorcycle in its class, at a mere 112 kg.
Yamaha rates the engine for 8.3 PS at 7,000 rpm and 10.1 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm, matched to a 4-speed transmission. The Saluto is good for 78 km/l.
The Saluto is equipped with drum brakes at both ends (130 mm). Based on a diamond frame, the motorcycle measures 2,035 mm in length, 700 mm in width, 1,080 mm in height and 1,265 mm in wheelbase with a ground clearance of 180 mm. It comes with a 7.6-liter fuel tank. A telescopic fork up front and a swingarm for the rear provide suspension duties.
