While General Motors India remained in ‘consolidation phase’ for the year 2011, the manufacturer plans to get very aggressive in 2012. The company plans to showcase many new vehicles at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo.
First of which is the brand new Captiva which has been caught testing numerous times. The Captiva will don a new sophisticated look at the front. Some minor changes to the tail lamps will also be present. The most important change is the engine which will be a brand new 2.2L CRDI unit producing 165 PS and 350 NM of torque in both manual and automatic form.
Standing beside the Captiva will be the baby brother Tavera in a BSIV complaint avatar. A re-tuned engine from ICML along with a couple of updates to the body will be the highlight of the Tavera.
The Sail twins will also be present at the Expo all set to replace the Aveo twins. The Sail twins (both Hatchback and Sedan) will surely have the Smartech diesel engine engineered by General motors.
Two new MPV from GM-SAIC partnership – Hong Tu (Left) and Hong Guang (Right) are also expected to make an appearance. Whereas the Hong-Tu is touted to be a competitor for Maruti Suzuki EECO, the big brother Hong Guang will target the Ertiga and the Mini Xylo.
Petrolheads can also look forward to seeing the Chevrolet Camaro and the 289 PS Cruze WTCC Cup car at the GM stand as well.
