Announced in December last year, the 2014 BMW Z4 facelift had its world debut at the Detroit Motor Show in January this year. The sportscar went on sale in European markets a couple of months after that and according to Overdrive, will go on sale in India next month.
Mr. Phillip von Sahr, president of BMW India, has also confirmed that the refreshed Z4 would go on sale in November and that in 2014, BMW India would add two new models to its portfolio. One of those models is the BMW 3 Series GT, which will be locally assembled at the company's plant in Chennai. The other model could be from the BMW i range of cars.
The Z4 has been refreshed in typical BMW style: Minute exterior and interior components have been changed and it would get very difficult to differentiate the facelifted model from the pre-facelifted one. The exteriors see the addition of LED headlights and new alloy wheel designs, a small kink has been introduced for the side indicators and three new color options have been included.
The interiors get added iPhone connectivity, gloss black trim for the air vent and an anthracite wood finished center console. For the European market, BMW introduced a new base variant called the Z4 sDrive 18i featuring a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 156hp.
In India though, BMW sells the Z4 with a single engine option calling it the sDrive 35i. Power comes from a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine producing 306hp and 400Nm of torque. The same engine is likely to continue in the refreshed Z4 when its launched here next month.
