LA Live - 2015 Chevrolet Silverado

The 2015 Chevrolet Silverado gets its public premiere at the 2013 LA Auto Show. Set to go on sale early next year, the Silverado will be made at GM's facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana and Flint, Michigan.

GM will offer the following engine options on the new Silverado. A 6.0-liter Vortec V8 petrol (also available as a bi-fuel) engine producing 360 bhp and 515 Nm of torque in the 2500 HD models, and the same engine producing 322 bhp and 515 Nm of torque in the 3500 HD models.

A 6.6-liter Duramax V8 diesel capable of 397 bhp and an earth shattering 1,037 Nm is also available. All variants feature a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard.

GM is heard boasting about the truck's class-leading payload capacity of 3,345 kg and its class-leading conventional trailering rating of 8,890 kg. With the optional fifth-wheel hitch, the trailering rating increases to 10,523 kg.

For the 2015 model, GM has included features such as a CornerStep rear bumper, StabiliTrak with Trailer Sway Control, integrated cruise control, auto grade braking, diesel exhaust braking (diesel models), and an enhanced cooling system for the diesel models.

The Silverado comes with an independent front suspension and asymmetrical leaf springs at the rear as standard.
