The 2015 Ford Figo competes with the Maruti Swift (segment leader) and the Hyundai Grand i10 in the B-segment market. Other competitors include the Tata Bolt, the Nissan Micra and the Honda Brio (available with a petrol engine only).

At 3,886 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width and 2,491 mm in wheelbase, the new Figo is the longest in overall length, wheelbase and the widest in its category. It also has the largest boot at 257 liters, which is 1 liter more than the Grand i10.

All cars are powered by a 1.2-liter petrol engine, though the unit in the Bolt is turbocharged. The Figo is also available with a 1.5-liter motor paired to a 6-speed Powershift dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Comparing the 1.2L variants of these cars, the Bolt produces the highest power and torque on paper, but the lowest power-weight ratio due to its heavier weight. Ford India has not disclosed the weight of the Figo, and as a result, the Brio seems to be the winner in the power-weight ratio department. However, the Maruti Swift continues to lead in the fuel efficiency area.

All cars get a standard 5-speed manual transmission. Where the Brio and Grand i10 opt for a conventional AT, the Figo sports a modern dual-clutch transmission.

At INR 4.25 lakhs, the Brio is the least expensive, though its worthy to note that even the base variant of the Figo gets a driver airbag as standard.

Aside from the Grand i10, all cars feature a four-cylinder engine: the Swift and the Bolt share their Fiat-made MultiJet engines too.

It is clear to see that the Figo offers the best-in-class power and torque figures, and at 25.83 km/l, is also the most fuel efficient of the lot.

With prices starting at INR 5.29 lakhs, not only is the Figo the most affordable car in this segment, but the Base variant also offers a driver airbag as standard. Though the top-end Titanium+ is the most expensive in this segment, it comes with side and curtain airbags which are not available in this segment, or even the one above.
