The 2015 VW Fox hatchback has been caught testing once again but this time without any camouflage, by Autossegredos.com's reader Mr. Luis Filipe.

The facelifted model is aimed at extending the car's life before the next generation model, which is on the anvil, gets ready. As seen from the spyshot, the facelifted Fox sports subtle improvements like sharpened up headlamps and grille and as a result, a subtly revised hood. The foglamp enclosures and secondary airdams are separated in the new bumper.

The side of the car bears no changes while the rear is expected to receive new taillights that extend to the hatch door and a revised bumper. The interior too is likely to soldier on without much of a change.

The most significant update will come in the form of a more powerful 1.6-litre 16-valve flex-fuel engine that recently debuted in the Saveiro Cross. The new engine is capable of 120 PS (118.3 bhp) while running on ethanol compared to the existing version's 104 PS (102.5 bhp). A new 6-speed manual transmission is touted to replace the 5-speed AMT of the current car. The base variant's 1.0-litre flex-fuel engine would be retained as it is.

Given the readiness of the test mule, the 2015 VW Fox is not far away from a launch. The Brazilian media expect the updated car to launch next month.

VW had studied the Indian market for the Fox (to be positioned below the Polo) but decided that the hatchback is unsuitable for the sub-continent.

Competitors: Renault Clio, Chevrolet Celtic, Fiat Novo Palio
