BMW India will showcase three new products at Auto Expo 2016.
Ahead of its Indian debut at the Auto Expo 2016 in February, BMW India held a private event in Goa to give prospective customers a first look at the 2016 BMW 7 Series.
Now, new images of the BMW 7-er showcased at such an event in Mumbai have surfaced online, courtesy of Indian Autos Blog reader and instagram user @adisinghv12. It reveals the top-end grade of the BMW 7 Series, which comes with LED headlamps as standard (laser headlamps optional), BMW display key fob, rear entertainment package, rear tablet controller, ambient lighting with SkyLounge and iDrive 5.0 with touch and air gestures.
BMW India could launch the petrol 740Li variant, given the new restrictions placed on diesel cars in Delhi, an important market for the car. This variant in the USA is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-scroll turbo inline-6 engine that belts out 320 hp @ 5,200-6,500 rpm and 447 Nm @ 1,380 rpm, and is paired to an 8-speed ZF Steptronic gearbox.

The volume-seller would be the BMW 730Ld, which packs a six-cylinder diesel engine making 265 PS (7 PS more than the outgoing model), and is paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Power is sent to the rear wheels, while fuel efficiency is rated at 22.2 km/L (EU cycle).
Given that the Indian government has certain restrictions on radar-based features, it’s unclear whether the Indian-spec BMW 7 Series will offer the driver-less parking system. It also remains to be seen if the 2016 BMW 7 Series is assembled at the car maker's Chennai plant, like the outgoing model.
