The new Elantra is expected to feature Fluidic Structure 2.0.

Hyundai was earlier reported to have planned a launch for the new Elantra (Avante in certain markets) in 2015. The said car was also caught testing a few days later. Now, a report by Korean Herald claims that the car maker will launch the new Elantra along with the new Tucson crossover in April this year in Korea.

The Elantra is expected to receive an all-new styling (likely to follow Sonata's footsteps in adopting the Fluidic Structure 2.0), and new powertrain options could include a hybrid or all-electric version apart from the usual petrol and diesel units, reveals the report. The test mule of the new Elantra was caught testing last month, showcasing a similar silhouette as the current car. While other details remain under the disguising black cladding, improved cornering capability is expected as well.

The other product that's expected to receive a full model year change is the Tucson crossover, also known as ix35 in some markets. The report mentions that the next generation version is likely to benefit from the high-strength steel used in larger vehicles like the Santa Fe. It was caught partially undisguised recently.

Coming back to the Elantra, Hyundai India is expected to launch the facelifted version before the next generation version makes it to the market. The car still does about 300 units a month, whereas the new Toyota Corolla Altis dominates the segment. At present, the Elantra is offered with two engine options: a 1.6-litre diesel and a 1.8-litre petrol. Both feature a 6-speed automatic or manual gearbox.
