Based on a new aluminum-intensive platform.

The second generation Jaguar XF is making its world premiere at the 2015 New York Auto Show, boasting a reworked design, new platform and featuring JLR's latest Ingenium range of engines.

Below is a pictorial comparison between the new Jaguar XF and the model that it replaces.

Exterior

Rather than featuring a new design altogether, the new Jaguar XF builds upon the design of the outgoing model, while borrowing cues from other models in the range. The upright front end is characterized by a larger mesh grille that extends ahead, much like the bigger XJ. It features a pair of new projector headlamps with an updated LED DRL design (also available with full LED headlamps; a first for Jaguar), larger air intakes in the lower fascia, and a redesigned sculpted engine hood.

At the side, the new XF features an F-Type-esque air intake, updated alloy rim designs, and a new C-pillar design. Jaguar has also extended the length of the XF for increased cabin space, improving passenger comfort.

The rear bears more similarities with the XE than any other car in the range. The taillamp design is similar to the entry-level Jaguar, although it's bigger, sleeker and has a new LED arrangement. Much like the outgoing XF, it will also have a dual exhaust system as standard.

Interior

Unlike the exterior, the interior represents a leap over the outgoing model. The interior combines different elements from the company’s current range into one package for the new XF. The center console design looks identical to the smaller XE, while other familiar additions include an F-Type inspired three-spoke steering wheel, and an XJ-esque wood trim that runs in a continuous line from the door panels across the top of the dashboard. The instrument cluster is now a TFT display with a new graphic design.

The central HVAC vents are now fixed, while the driver and passenger-side vents retain the rotatory motion. The dashboard houses the larger 10.2-inch touchscreen that runs JLR's new InControl Touch Pro infotainment system powered by a quad-core processor and equipped with a solid state drive (SSD)

Engines

The new Jaguar XF will be powered by JLR's Ingenium series of engines, which includes a 2.0-liter diesel engine that develops 163 hp and 380 Nm on the base variant and 180 hp and 430 Nm on the higher variants. The top-end diesel variant is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 that generates 300 hp and 700 Nm, while the "S" variant is powered by Jaguar's 3.0-liter V6 supercharged petrol engine delivering 380 hp and 450 Nm.

All engines are mated to an 8-speed ZF gearbox, while the base 163-hp diesel variant can be ordered with a 6-speed manual. Also, the 163-hp variant is the most frugal in the range, returning an average fuel mileage of 24.78 km/l in the UK with CO2 emissions of 104 g/km

Jaguar is yet to announce the prices of the new XF. Deliveries are expected to begin after autumn in the U.K. For the Indian market, Jaguar could launch it as a CBU next year, followed by local assembly at its factory in Pune.
