Renault has revealed the 2016 Renault Megane Estate ahead of its world premiere at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show on 1 March. Like the 2016 Renault Megane hatchback, its estate version also gets a GT trim level, seen in the two images revealed by the company.

2016 Renault Megane Estate GT front three quarters
The 2016 Renault Megane Estate GT will likely offer more than 1,600 litres of load space.

The exterior remains nearly the same as the hatchback version, but the estate version gets matte-finish (Dark Metal on GT trim level) anodised aluminium roof bars and an extended rear section for a bigger boot. It also features a chrome trim around the side windows and C-pillar. The GT trim level gets its sporty appeal with honeycomb mesh grille, wide lower air inlet which is flanked by two air scoops at the front and chrome exhaust tailpipe and a sculpted diffuser at the rear.

The Renault Megane Estate GT is the first compact (C-segment) estate to feature 4CONTROL technology, commonly known as four-wheel steering system. The fourth generation Renault Megane is 64 mm longer and offers 28 mm longer wheelbase than its outgoing model, and so, its estate version is also expected to offer similar size increments.

The 2016 Renault Megane Estate will likely be offered with the same engines and transmissions from the 2016 Renault Megane hatchback.

Engine choices would likely be the same as the 2016 Megane hatchback: three ENERGY dCi diesel engines with outputs of 90 hp (91 PS), 110 hp (111 PS) and 130 hp (131 PS) and three TCe petrol engines with outputs of 100 hp (101 PS), 130 hp (131 PS) and 205 hp (207 PS). Transmission options may include 6-speed manual, 6-speed EDC dual-clutch and 7-speed EDC dual-clutch.

The interior should be carried over from hatchback version with all advanced features including the R-Link 2 infotainment system and BOSE audio system. Where the estate version will exceptionally differ, will be the boot. The current model already offers 524 litres of boot space with rear seats up, which can be increased to a maximum of 1,600 litres by folding the rear seats. The 2016 model will likely be improved in this aspect as well.
