Gets cosmetic updates and new features on the inside.
According to a report on Autocar India, the 2017 Audi A3 Sedan (facelift), when launched in India in February 2017, will swap its predecessor's 1.8-liter TFSI engine for a downsized 1.4-liter TFSI engine. The 1.4-liter TFSI unit is what powers the 2016 Audi A4 which was launched in the country in September this year.
The 1.4-liter TFSI unit delivers 150 hp and 250 Nm, whereas the 1.8-liter TFSI generates 180 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Despite the engine downsizing, the A3 Sedan facelift will continue with the 7-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission, but is expected to be more fuel efficient than the current model which returns 16.6 km/l (ARAI-tested).
The publication reports that with the engine downsizing, Audi will also lower the prices of the A3 petrol to an expected sub-25 lakhs pricetag. The diesel variant will continue with the 2.0-liter TDI unit, also paired to a 7-speed DSG.
