The new Hyundai Equus will be based on Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language, and shares the Genesis' platform.

The 2017 model will be featuring Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design and is expected to be based on the same platform as the Hyundai Genesis sedan. In the pictures, we can see the front getting a wider grille, wraparound headlamp assembly with projector units and LED strips, as well as a huge air dam. The side profile consists of big wheels, a character line emanating from the front fender, and a chrome strip outlining the windows. The rear gets LED tail lights and dual rectangular exhausts.

The interior is expected to be spacious with ample legroom for rear passengers. The cabin will also receive embellishments in the form of premium wooden inserts on the door trims, dashboard and center console with a fair amount of chrome elements as well. The seats receive leather upholstery to enhance the luxury factor.

Drive is expected from a V8 engine paired to an 8-speed automatic, or Hyundai’s 10-speed automatic unit which is reportedly under development.

Equipment expected are infotainment system with around-view monitor, tablets for the rear passengers, rear AC vents and a cruise control system. Ride quality is expected to get better as the sedan will receive a multi-link rear suspension setup that has been tuned by Lotus, claim web reports.

Another report released by Korean media this year said that a partially autonomous driving feature called Highway Driving Assist (HDA), similar to Toyota’s Automated Highway Driving Assist (AHDA), would be a feature on the new Equus.

Power for the luxury sedan is likely to be supplied by a V8 engine paired to an 8-speed automatic, and this may also change to Hyundai’s 10-speed automatic unit which they are currently developing. There are also rumours circulating that drive may come from a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 engine.
