Based on the outgoing, sub-4m Maruti Swift Dzire.
The 2017 Maruti Swift Dzire Tour has been spied for the first time by GaadiWaadi which, as we expected, is based on the outgoing, sub-4m Maruti Swift Dzire. It could launch sometime after the 3rd gen Swift Dzire goes on sale in May.
While some reports say that Maruti would extend the wheelbase of the Swift Dzire for the Tour version given that the current model's length is over 4m and taxi aggregators prefer sedans with good legroom, we reckon that the 2017 Dzire Tour will retain a sub-4m length so that Maruti need not go through the expensive process of retooling the plant to produce long wheelbase 2nd gen Dzires for a small market segment. At best, Maruti could fit thinner, scooped-out front seats to liberate more legroom, as seen on the VW Ameo.

Engine options are likely to include the 1.3 DDiS diesel motor paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the 1.2L K-Series petrol variant could be fitted with a CNG kit for low cost running. The Swift Dzire Tour will be based on the basic 'L' grade of the current Swift Dzire.
