The 2018 Ford Aspire (facelift) will launch in India on 4 October 2018. The new model will feature a handful of styling updates, additional features, and a new petrol engine. A reader of MotorOctane recently saw a partially camouflaged unit of the refresh.
The front-end of the 2018 Ford Aspire (facelift) looks identical to that of the 2018 Ford Ka+. It features a sleeker grille and a sportier bumper. The foglamp housings are likely to get chrome inserts. Barring the introduction of a new set of multi-spoke alloy wheels, the side profile will remain completely unchanged. The rear-end will have an updated bumper. Previous spy images have revealed that the new bumper will feature faux air vents at its edges.
The highlight of the interior is an updated dashboard that looks a lot like that of the Freestyle. The first generation of the SYNC infotainment unit has made way for the SYNC3 touchscreen system. Other than this, the beige & black dual-tone interior remains precisely the same.
The 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine of the current Aspire will make way for the new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder motor that made its debut on the Freestyle. It outputs a maximum power of 96 PS along with a peak torque of 120 Nm. The engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and a 6-speed DCT automatic as optional. The diesel variants will retain the 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that powers the current car. It outputs 100 PS and 215 Nm.
Ford and Mahindra have joined hands for the development of a range of future products. The two manufacturers are reportedly working on a Ford Aspire EV that is expected to launch in 2019.
