Honda resurrected the CBR 250R with a mild refresh and a BS-IV compliant engine.

The CBR 250R was one of the first motorcycles to kick-start the quarter litre sports touring segment. With a robust and powerful engine and comfortable ergonomics, the bike went on to become one of the most sought-after tourers in the country. The Yamaha Fazer was also a popular choice for touring, and the Fazer 25 offers a much-needed bump in performance over its 150 cc cousin, along with a radical design. Let’s see how the two bikes match-up on paper.

It is evident that the 2018 Honda CBR 250R is more powerful than the Yamaha Fazer 25, thanks to its advanced liquid cooled engine. However, the torque difference is marginal. The CBR will help achieve higher cruising speeds than the Fazer, thanks to the engine and the 6-speed transmission.

The Fazer is lighter than the CBR by 13 kg, and has a 1-litre bigger fuel tank too. This would help in achieving a relatively better riding range than the Honda. However, for shorter riders, the CBR will be a better choice because of its 11 mm shorter seat heaight. Overall, the CBR is an expensive proposition compared to the Fazer, with a price difference of a whopping INR 63,772. It does get the added safety of dual-channel ABS, which the Fazer sorely misses out on. Both bikes come with LED headlight. The Fazer is ideal for those who are looking for an uncomplicated, reasonably powerful quarter-litre tourer.
