Just months after the 2017 Honda CR-V's debut, Honda has another light-truck lineup model getting a full makeover - the Honda Odyssey. The 2018 Honda Odyssey will have its world premiere at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on 9 January.

The next-gen Honda Odyssey will be based on Honda's Global Light Truck platform.

Along with the vehicle's debut announcement, Honda has released the first teaser of the fifth generation Honda Odyssey. As seen in the image, the all-new model features a "sophisticated, low and wide design". The redesigned Odyssey apparently features a low ride height, sleek glasshouse, an expressive side body with sculpted surfaces, tail lights featuring C-shaped LED light cluster and a chrome grille between the tail lights.

The fifth generation Honda Odyssey will be based on the Global Light Truck platform currently utilised for the Honda Pilot and Honda Ridgeline. Also shared with these models, will be the 3.5-liter i-VTEC naturally aspirated V6 gasoline engine that produces 280 hp and 262 lb.-ft. (355.22 Nm) of torque. This engine could be paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission.

The outgoing model is front-wheel drive but the new generation model is said to be offered with an all-wheel drive system. Also speculated, is the availability of P-AWS four-wheel steering system.
