Mercedes-Benz unveiled the S-Class facelift in April earlier this year. A spy video of the 2018 Mercedes S-Class testing in India has been shared by Instagram handle japanesegenes. It is scheduled to go on sale in India early next year. The updated S-Class may make its India debut at the 2018 Auto Expo scheduled from 7-11 February.
The test mule was spotted with emissions testing apparatus driving down the Mumbai-Pune expressway. Updates to the Mercedes S-Class include subtle exterior changes. Up front, it features new MULTIBEAM LED headlamps, new radiator grille, reshaped air dam grille, larger side air intakes along with a restyled bumper. The rear section of the updated S-Class boasts crystal-look LED tail lamps, redesigned lower bumper section, and redesigned exhaust pipes.
Inside, there is a more conventional, three-spoke steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls in place of the two-spoke steering wheel fitted in the outgoing car. The dual 12.3-inch high-resolution displays are now housed under one shared glass cover.
The mid-cycle refresh adds even more tech to the Mercedes S-Class. It gets something called DISTRONIC Active Proximity Control, which allows for autonomous acceleration and braking within a speed limit. The 2018 Mercedes S-Class is also armed with the enhanced camera and radar systems. Remote Parking Assist allows the driver to manoeuvre the vehicle into tight parking spaces or garages through a smartphone app.

New engine options include in-line six-cylinder petrol and diesel units, as well as a new V8 biturbo petrol unit. India will get the new straight-six diesel engine under the hood of the S350d. However, the current S400's 3.0 L petrol and S500's 4.7 L V8 will be carried over albeit with slight retuning.
