The 2018 Toyota Auris has made its world debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The all-new Toyota Auris features a more dynamic exterior design and marks the debut of Toyota’s dual hybrid strategy.

The Toyota Auris has now entered its third generation. Longer, wider and lower than its predecessor, the 2018 Toyota Auris has a noticeably more dynamic design and striking styling.

The styling on the front portion is a further evolution of the company’s Under Priority Catamaran and Keen Look design philosophies. A narrow upper grille with a central Toyota logo is flanked by new, all-LED headlamps with integrated DRLs. A large, trapezoidal lower grille dominates the face of the car. It is more upright than before, leading to a reduction in the front overhang of some 20 mm. The lower grille’s sides form a catamaran hull shape at the front corners, emphasising the car’s 30 mm increase in width, and its sporty stance.

From the sides, the 2018 Toyota Auris looks very sporty with the sloping roofline, large, shiny alloy wheels and the muscular hip adopted above the rear wheel arch. The car’s beltline now rises up at both ends, creating a welcome change in the way the greenhouse looks.

At the rear, the all-new Toyota Auris has a more rounded design. The increase of 20 mm in the rear overhang offsets the decrease in the front overhang. The rear bumper styling is influenced by the Under Priority Catamaran design. A thin lower lip incorporates twin chrome inserts. The new wraparound LED tail lamps have light guides designed to emphasise the wide, planted rear stance. A roof spoiler is standard.

The new generation Toyota Auris is underpinned by the TNGA platform, which should improve the driving experience and provide higher safety. It measures 4,370 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width and 1,435 mm in height. It is 40 mm longer, 30 mm wider and 25 mm lower than the previous generation Toyota Auris. The 40 mm increase in length comes entirely from the increase in the wheelbase, which measures 2,640 mm now.

The old Toyota Auris is available with five conventional engines and one hybrid powertrain. Toyota will offer the all-new Toyota Auris with just one conventional engine - a 1.2-litre turbo petrol unit - and a choice of two hybrid powertrains - 122 hp 1.8-litre and 180 hp 2.0-litre.
