The fifth generation Triton will complete four years in the market this November. MMC has prepared a minor model change to keep the vehicle fresh until the next-gen pickup built in cooperation with Nissan is ready to come out.

The 2019 Mitsubishi Triton features new Dynamic Shield inspired by the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and Mitsubishi Xpander.

As expected, the 2019 Mitsubishi Triton features new Dynamic Shield inspired by the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and Mitsubishi Xpander. The mid-size pickup truck flaunts new LED headlamps that are narrower and sharper. The more powerful bumper houses mid-set secondary lamps to create a two-tier front light impression that is hip among SUVs currently.

On the sides, squarish fenders lend a more athletic styling to the one-tonne pickup. The six-spoke alloy wheels are new, likely 18-inch in diameter (up to 17-inch wheels available on the outgoing model). At the rear, the tail lamps design is about to change, spy shots have revealed. There’s no information on the interior revisions.

The Mitsubishi Triton is currently available with three engine options. The base is the 4G64 2.4-litre petrol unit (132 PS/202 Nm). Above that, there’s the 4D56 2.5-litre diesel engine made in four different versions: 110 PS/200 Nm, 128 PS/240 Nm, 136 PS/324 Nm and 178 PS/400 Nm. At the top of the range, there’s the 4N15 2.4-litre diesel engine that develops 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque.

5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and 5-speed automatic are the transmission choices. As an option to rear-wheel drive, customers can select either Easy Select 4WD or Super Select 4WD-II, and both vary depending on engines and markets. Mechanical changes due with the mid-cycle update remain a mystery at the moment.
