The Mitsubishi Triton's face has incorporated the new-generation “Dynamic Shield” design concept.

The Mitsubishi Triton has received substantial design changes, and it looks visibly different, particularly at the front. It incorporates the new-generation “Dynamic Shield” front design concept. There’s a new horizontal upper grille flanked by narrower headlamps in an angular design and with full-LED lighting. The turn indicators and fog lamps are housed in the mid-section. The lower air intake has a noticeably larger footprint now, while the bumper’s design is immensely more athletic.

Enhancing the mid-size pickup truck’s powerful stance and sportiness on the sides are the new squarish wheel arches and the entirely, 18-inch alloy wheels respectively. At the rear, the redesigned combination lamps extended lesser onto the sides and the taillight is inspired by that of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. The bumper is completely new, while the tailgate has minor revisions on the top, including a more appealing handle.

Moving to the interior, changes are rather subtle. Firstly, there’s a new, bigger driver information display. Mitsubishi has added roof-mounted air vents for enhanced temperature control. The company has expanded the safety kit with the addition of Forward Collision Mitigation, Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System technologies.

Performance and functionality enhancements brought by the mid-life facelift include the use of larger front discs and calliper pistons for better braking and larger rear dampers, which contain more damping oil, for improved ride. Also, there’s a 6-speed automatic transmission in place of the 5-speed automatic transmission for smoother, more powerful acceleration.

The Super-Select (full-time) and Easy-Select (part-time) 4WD systems offer selectable off-road drive modes now: Gravel, Mud/Snow, Sand and Rock (in Low Range). The off-roading-oriented features include Hill Descent Control as well now. The ground clearance has gone up by 10 mm to 215 mm (in configurations equipped with 18-inch wheels). The 2019 Mitsubishi Triton is on sale in Thailand in a price bracket of 524,000 to 1.099 million baht.
