The 2019 Range Rover Evoque had its world premiere in London in November 2018. Barely a few months from its debut, the second generation model has been spotted undergoing road tests in Bangalore.

The 2019 Range Rover Evoque is all set to receive a plug-in hybrid powertrain and even a new three-cylinder Ingenium engine. The India-spec model, however, should carry over the engine options from the first generation version.

The 2019 Range Rover sports an evolutionary design that retains the silhouette of the earlier version but has several hints of the Range Rover Velar. This is mainly due to a similar motif of the sleek Matrix LED headlamps, the new radiator grille design, and the copper-coloured highlights. Other talking points of the exterior include flush door-handles that enhance the well-sculpted aesthetics, sweeping directional turn indicators, and the optional R-Dynamic details.

The interior carries an uncluttered design with crisp lines and clean surfaces that have been integrated with high-quality materials. The leather upholstery of the earlier model has made way for textiles that use recycled plastics. The tech-laden cabin comes with features like twin touchscreen Touch Pro Duo system that runs faster software, 16-way electric seat controls and cabin air ioniser.

Underpinning the 2019 Range Rover Evoque is underpinned by the company's new Premium Transverse Architecture, which leads to a higher interior space than before in spite of an almost identical footprint of 4.37-metre. The wheelbase has increased by 21 mm to 2,681 mm, thereby leading to an increment of 20 mm in the rear knee room. The boot space, at 591-litres, is 10 per cent higher than before. The luggage-carrying capacity can be boosted to 1,383-litres by folding the rear seats. The company claims that the wider access allows for easy accommodation of a folded pram or a set of golf clubs.

While the 2019 Range Rover Evoque is available with a range of Ingenium petrol and diesel engine options internationally, the Indian version is likely to feature the current 240hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 180hp, 2.0-litre diesel engines. Even the all-wheel drive and the ZF-sourced 9-speed automatic transmission will be retailed. In India, the new model will launch in the second half of the calendar year. It will lock horns with the Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5, and Volvo XC60.
