Kawasaki has unveiled the 2020 edition of Kawasaki Z400 in Europe. The street naked motorcycle is based on the Ninja 400 and is expected to be launched in India later this year. Changes in the 2020 Kawasaki Z400 remain limited to the cosmetics.

The 2020 Kawasaki Z400 gets a green coloured frame, a characteristic design feature seen in the bigger capacity Z650 and Z900.

Cosmetic changes in the Z400 includes a new Metallic Matte Graphite Grey/Metallic Spark Black. The new 2020 Kawasaki Z400 also gets a green coloured frame. The older Candy Lime Green/Metallic Spark Black continues to remain on sale.

Mechanically the bike remains the same. Powering the Kawasaki Z400 is a 399cc parallel twin, liquid cooled, DOHC, 8-valve mill. Coupled to a 6-speed gearbox, the engine can produce 45 PS of power at 10,000 rpm. That’s 5 PS less than the Ninja 400 as the company retails just a single A2 license compliant variant in Europe. When launched in India, Kawasaki may decide to tune the engine to produce its full potential. Besides that, the torque output has been pegged at 38 Nm. This powerplant produces 100 g of CO2 per km of travel.

Kawasaki Z400 is suspended on conventional 41 mm telescopic fork upfront and a bottom link Uni-Trak monoshock in the rear with adjustable preload. The bike tips the scales at 167 kg and has a ground clearance of 145 mm. The naked motorcycle has a seat height of 785 mm. Also, its fuel tank can store 14-litres of petrol. Braking includes a large 310 mm disc in the front and a 220 mm unit in the rear.
