21,494 units of Maruti Dzire recalled

MSIL has issued a recall for the 2017 Maruti Dzire. A possible fault with the rear wheel hub has been cited as the reason for this voluntary recall. The company has already initiated the process of reaching out to affected Dzire customers.

According to the information provided by MSIL's official webpage, the recall will cover around 21,494 units of the new Dzire manufactured between 23 February 2017 and 10 July 2017. Dubbed as a "Service Campaign", the recall process has been underway since October 3, 2017.

As is the case with voluntary recalls, the inspection of the affected vehicles and the replacement of the affected part(s) will be carried out by authorised Maruti Suzuki service centres free of charge.

The third generation Maruti Dzire was launched in May 2017. It is based on Suzuki's HEARTECT platform that also underpins the Baleno, Ignis, and the soon to be launched new Swift. By October 2015, Maruti had sold more than 1 lakh units of the compact sedan, making it the fastest car to reach the mark in India.

The Maruti Dzire is offered with 1.2 L K-Series petrol and 1.3 L DDiS diesel engine options mated to 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearboxes. The 2017 Maruti Dzire range starts at INR 5.43 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
