Spied - Ashok Leyland Stile spotted testing again

Regular Indian Autos Blog readers know the Ashok Leyland Stile as a rebadged Nissan Evalia developed for the Indian commercial vehicle market.

We have brought you the spyshots of the vehicle testing in Chennai in the past and here is another set, this time coming from our avid reader Achyuth V. The front fascia of the Stile is clearer in the latest set.

The Ashok Leyland Stile was unveiled at Auto Expo 2012, but since then there have been changes made to the production model. Though camouflaged, we can see that the front of the test mule is truthful to the one shown at the Expo.

Our reader reports that the dashboard of the Stile is an exact replica of the Nissan Evalia. The color of the dashboard is a combination of black and grey.

This is not a surprise because reusing the same interior would have obvious cost and time advantages. We however expect the plastic quality to be downgraded to reduce cost.

Under the hood, you will find the familiar 1.5 litre K9K diesel engine. On the donor model Evalia, the engine develops 86PS and delivers a mileage of 19.3 kmpl. The transmission is a five speed manual unit.

Ashok Leyland brought a near-production Stile to the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo.

A proven and frugal diesel engine and seating capacity for seven occupants would give the Ashok Leyland Stile an edge in the commercial segment.

The Ashok Leyland Stile launches on July 16.
