Bajaj Auto has temporarily suspended sales of the Bajaj V12 premium commuter in India, reports Bikewale. The bike has witnessed a drop in its sales in previous months.
The report further claims that the Bajaj V12 will return to the market in the next couple of months and production will resume. That said, Bajaj dealerships across India are refraining from accepting bookings for the V12 as the company isn’t stocking the bike. Bajaj Auto launched the V12 in India in January 2017 to capitalise on the success of the Bajaj V15. The motorcycle sits between the Bajaj Discover 125 and the V15.
The Bajaj V12 registered zero sales in May and 321 units in April, while sales in March 2018 stood at a mere 484 units. It is far from the record cumulative sales of 2.34 lakh units that the Bajaj V15 and V12 accounted in FY2017. On the other hand, the Bajaj Discover 125 averages over 6,000 units on a monthly basis. Customers have preferred the conservative design of the Discover 125 over the V12 in the upper commuter segment.
A 124 cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine powers the Bajaj V12. This motor develops a maximum power of 10.55 bhp at 7,500 rpm along with a peak torque of 10.9 Nm at 5,500 rpm and pairs with a 5-speed gearbox. Bajaj Auto had also introduced a front disc brake variant of the V12 in May 2017. As compared to the V15, the Bajaj V12 received redesigned alloys with tube tires, a rudimentary instrument cluster, and minimal chrome detailing.
The Bajaj V12 features telescopic front forks and gas-charged nitrox twin shock absorbers at the rear. Braking components on the V12 include a front disc brake and rear drum brakes. The bike runs on 18-inch front and 16-inch rear alloy wheels that use tube tires. The V12 receives a fuel tank capacity of 13 litres.

In January 2018, Bajaj introduced the 2018 Bajaj V15. However, the V12 was conspicuous by its absence. As a reminder, the old Bajaj Pulsar 135LS saw a similar decline in sales. Bajaj, however, reintroduced the bike with new features and an attractive price tag.
