The Benelli Leoncino 250 will be launched in India, and that too very soon, on 5 October 2019, claims Autocar India. The Benelli Leoncino 250 will fill the void that was created after the discontinuation of the TNT25 in 2018.

In terms of styling, the Benelli Leoncino 250 draws cues from its higher displacement variants, including the Benelli Leoncino 500. The neo-retro styling is accompanied by premium hardware such as full LED lighting, a digital instrument console, inverted front forks, a rear monoshock, petal-type disc brakes on both wheels and a rear tyre hugger mounted number plate. The motorcycle will pack dual-channel ABS tech.

The Leoncino 250 is built around a steel trellis frame. The quarter-litre member of the Leoncino family rides on 110/70-R17 front and 150/60-R17 rear tyres.

Engine specifications on the current (Euro-IV – equivalent to BS-IV norms) model include a 249 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-valve motor with a fuel injection system that delivers 25.5 bhp of peak power at 9,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 21.2 Nm at 8,000 rpm. The engine is linked to a six-speed transmission.

The Benelli Leoncino 250, when launched, will retail at a premium price tag. The source report indicates a 1.8-2 lakh* (ex-showroom) range, although we expect the tag to hover over the INR 2 lakh* mark.

While the Chinese-owned Italian two-wheeler brand is yet to confirm the launch of the Leoncino 250, it has started accepting pre-bookings for the Imperiale 400. The retro-style motorcycle can be reserved for a booking amount of INR 4,000. The launch has been confirmed for October while the deliveries will start from Diwali (late-October) onwards. The Imperiale will be available in three colour options – Red, Black and Chrome. The motorcycle will come with a three-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty as standard.

The Imperiale 400 will target the likes of Royal Enfield Classic 350, Jawa Forty-Two and Jawa Classic. Benelli India will heavily localize the motorcycle for competitive pricing, and we expect to see a sub-INR 2 lakh (ex-showroom) tag on the Imperiale 400.
