DSK Benelli has officially confirmed that the Benelli Tornado 302 will launch in India on July 25, 2017. The bike is essentially the faired version of the Benelli TNT 300. Dealerships in the national capital had earlier revealed that the bike has a booking amount of INR 25,000.
Powering the Benelli Tornado 302 is a 300 cc liquid cooled, in-line twin cylinder mill. The gearbox is a 6 speed unit. The engine is capable of producing 38 PS of maximum power at 10,000 rpm and 27.4 Nm of peak torque at 9,000 rpm (European spec). It competes against products like the Yamaha R3 (unavailable in India right now) and Kawasaki Ninja 300.
The motorcycle is the only product in the segment to get twin disc brakes in the front (260 mm). The rear brake is a 240 mm unit. The bike is also expected as the only product in the segment to get optional ABS. It has a kerb weight of 190 kg and is the heaviest offering in the segment.
The fully faired Benelli Tornado 302 was first showcased at EICMA 2015. The bike gets a 110/70-17 section tyre up front and a 150/60-17 section unit in the rear. These will be sourced from a premium tyre maker.
The Benelli Tornado 302R features split seats, clip-on handlebars, and the fuel tank can store 14 litres of petrol. Further, it gets 41 mm upside down fork up front and a monoshock in the rear. The motorcycle is expected to have a price tag of around INR 4 lakhs (on-road price).
