BMW India has announced that the launch of the 6-Series Gran Turismo will take place at the 2018 Auto Expo on 7 February 2018. The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo will sit just above the 5-Series in their lineup in India.
The BMW 6-Series GT is based on the current generation 5-Series. BMW will offer the car for those seeking more space and comfort. Like the 3-Series GT sold in India, the 6 GT also features notchback styling.
Globally the BMW 6 Series GT is available with a 2.0-litre petrol (RWD), 3.0-litre petrol (RWD/AWD) and a 3.0-litre diesel (RWD/AWD) engine, all paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard. According to a report from June 2017, BMW India will import the 6 Series GT in CKD kits and assemble them at its Chennai plant for a competitive pricing.
The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo’s extensive list of features include adaptive LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, 20-inch/21-inch alloy wheels, air suspension, remote control parking, Remote 3D View, new-generation head-up display unit with 70% increased projection area, four-zone automatic climate control, LED mood lighting, iDrive infotainment system with a freestanding 10.25-inch touchscreen and Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System with a 10-channel amplifier with an output of 1,400 watts and 16 partially illuminated speakers.
Aside from the 6-Series GT, BMW will also launch the new M5 and the new Mini Countryman at the Auto Expo. The event will also have on display the next generation BMW X3, BMW i8 Roadster and the BMW i3s.
