BMW M2, BMW X4 M to debut at Detroit Auto Show 2016 - IAB Report
Both feature a 3.0-litre M TwinPower Turbo engine.
BMW's showstoppers of the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month will be its new M models. The company will stage world debut of the BMW M2 and BMW X4 M at the show, it has confirmed.
BMW M2
The BMW M2 sports a newly developed 3.0-litre M TwinPower Turbo in-line six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that throws out 272 kW (370 hp) and 465 Nm (500 Nm under overboost) of torque. The engine is linked to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, while the 7-speed M Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic can also be opted for.
The BMW M2 can hit 0-100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds (4.5 seconds with manual transmission) and reach a top speed of 250 km/h. In standard specification, the top speed is electronically limited, but thanks to the optional M Driver's Package, it can be increased to 270 km/h.
BMW X4 M (BMW X4 M40i)
The BMW X4 M also sports a 3.0-litre M performance TwinPower Turbo in-line six-cylinder petrol engine that produces 265 kW (360 hp) and 465 Nm of torque, and is exclusively mated to the 8-speed Steptronic transmission. This configuration allows the X4M to reach 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited).
