The BMW X2 was displayed at the recently held Thai Motor Expo. The coupe-crossover has been on sale in Thailand in a price range of THB 2,969,000 - 3,329,000 (INR 63,42,171 - 71,11,178).

Speaking on the design of the BMW X2, Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design, has said -
The BMW X2 represents an expression of modern and extrovert vehicle dynamics. Its standalone vehicle concept brings a new, fresh and exciting facet of the BMW to the compact segment.
In essence, the BMW X2 is a commercialised Concept X2 that debuted at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. The highlight of the front-end is the inverted kidney grille, which lends the face a bold look. In the side profile, the smallest coupe-crossover in the company's lineup features a revised 'Hoffmeister kink' and the BMW insignia on the C-pillars. At the rear, it carries a neatly sculpted bumper that emphasises the car's width. The roof spoiler with side-mounted aero edges contributes to X2's low aerodynamic coefficient of 0.28 Cd.
The BMW X2 measures 4,360 mm in length, 1,821 mm in width, and 1,526 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,670 mm. In comparison, the second-gen X1 is 49 mm longer and 69 mm taller. On the inside, the X2 features a driver-focused dashboard that carries an 8.8-inch touchscreen iDrive infotainment unit. The M Sport and M Sport X models get Micro Hexagon fabric/Alcantara Anthracite upholstery with yellow contrast stitching to match the Galvanic Gold metallic exterior paint shade. The five-seater offers luggage carrying capacity of 470-litres.
The BMW X2 is based on the FWD UKL1 platform that is shared with the X1. The Thai-spec X2 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that outputs a maximum power of 192 hp and a peak torque of 280 Nm. The motor comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that drives the front wheels.

In September 2017, it emerged that the BMW X2 is India-bound. While a specific launch date isn't available at the moment, the new model will likely come via the CKD route and assembled at the company's Chennai facility.
