The BMW X7 xDrive40i has been spied in India for the first time, courtesy Instagram user Premster14. It was spotted in Pune, probably on its way to ARAI for homologation.
BMW will launch the X7 in India in the M50d engine variant, which it had displayed at the annual India Art Fair in January. This engine variant will be a CBU import. In September this year, the company will start offering even the xDrive40i and xDrive30d engine variants, both locally assembled and priced lower than the M50d. It has listed the new flagship SUV on its Indian website.
The BMW X7 xDrive40i employs a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder petrol engine that produces 250 kW (340 PS) at 5,500-6,500 rpm and 450 Nm of torque at 1,500-5,200 rpm. An 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and AWD system work together to send drive to the wheels. Below are the specifications of the entire BMW X7 range:
- xDrive40i - 3.0-litre petrol engine (340 PS/450 Nm), 8-speed automatic transmission, AWD
- xDrive50i - 4.4-litre petrol engine (462 PS/650 Nm), 8-speed automatic transmission, AWD
- xDrive30d - 3.0-litre diesel engine (265 PS/620 Nm), 8-speed automatic transmission, AWD
- M50d - 3.0-litre diesel engine (400 PS/760 Nm), 8-speed automatic transmission, AWD
In terms of dimensions, the largest member of the BMW X family measures 5,151 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width and 1,805 mm in height. It has a 3,105mm wheelbase.
On the outside, the BMW X7 comes with a humongous kidney grille flanked by BMW Laserlight with Adaptive LED Headlights, 22-inch wheels and slim LED rear lights with chrome bar bridging the space in between. The full-size SUV is made in 6- and 7-seat versions. Interior highlights include BMW Live Cockpit Professional comprising a 12.3-inch fully virtual instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central display, an electric three-part panoramic glass roof for an exquisite sky view, five-zone automatic climate control and Panorama glass roof Sky Lounge.

The BMW X7 will compete with the Mercedes GLS, the Range Rover and the Lexus LX in India. All configurations should have a price upwards of INR 1 crore (ex-showroom).
