Official - Chevrolet Captiva 2.2L coming by late March
GM India presently sells the CBU Captiva with a 2L diesel engine (used on the Cruze and Optra Magnum). The new Captiva is more than just a facelift - it will be powered by a new 2.2-liter 184bhp engine giving it even more grunt to compete against the likes of the CR-V, the upcoming Pajero Sport and the Santa Fe.
The company is not considering local manufacturing immediately and will determine the timeline only if the car shifts significant volumes.
As far as pricing is concerned, the new Captiva will be priced somewhere between 20 to 22 lakh rupees whereas the current one retails at 18.84 to 20.2lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The company currently manages to sell less than 100 units a month and will be hoping a better show with the new model's launch.
The new Captiva gets a new sporty exterior look with a bold new face that marks the new design statement for Chevrolet. On the interiors, you get three rows of theater-like seating for 7 passengers. The 2.2L engine is paired either to new manual or six-speed auto gearbox.
